Since the State of Alarm was lifted, we have seen the obligation to wear a Mask being increased. Today, 14th August 2020, the Canarian Government has imposed the new obligations in an attempt to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We highlight the main points below:
- Any person that is over the age of six has an obligation to use a mask, unless for medical reasons they can certify they are not able to wear the mask.
- The mask is obligatory in ALL spaces, even when you can maintain the safety distance of 1.5 meters. However if you are in a natural outdoor environment away from the populated areas you will not be obliged to wear the mask so long as the social distancing of 1,5 meters can be maintained.
- The mask may be removed on the beach and swimming pools when you are in the water so long as you can respect and guarantee the social distancing with those that do not cohabit. In any case, the use of mask is obligatory when entering, moving and walking from one place to another.
- It will not be obligatory to wear a mask in the primary and secondary schools, when it comes to stable coexisting school groups or when there is a minimum distance of 1,5 meters between each pupil.
- In the hotel and restaurant establishments, including bars and cafeterias it is only permitted to remove the mask when the food o drink is consumed. Tables and chairs must be separated by 1,5 meters as well as bar stools. The maximum table size inside and outside of the establishment must not exceed ten people. It must be clearly indicated in the establishment the mentioned distance.
- It is forbidden to smoke in open spaces, reserving the right for in your own home or when there is more than two meters distance. It is not permitted to smoke in terraces or with people around you.
- Nightclubs only permitted to open the open air spaces in order to consume when sat down at a table.
- Terraces will be limited to 75% capacity.
- Dance floors are not permitted.
- All types of gathering or groups of people that do not cohabit that meet in private spaces are to be limited to 10 people even when the safety distance of 1,5 meters can be guaranteed.
- It is the responsibility of the owners of establishments, spaces and premises that are obliged to guarantee the measures are carried out.
- Penalties for groups of more than ten people meeting up.
- The use of tobacco inhalation devices, water pipes, hookahs, shisha, or similar in all entertainment, leisure, hotel, and restaurant and in any other type of establishment open to the public is forbidden.
- Recreational boats and those used to carry out an economic activity may open only the open air spaces for sat down consumption. Maximum capacity limited at 75%.
- The transparent facial visors are NOT considered a mask. They are additional protection, therefore must be worn with a face mask that fully covers your nose and mouth.
